Pietro Turano and Diego Passoni: the way forward, after the Zan bill

One of the campaigns that characterized the 2021 of Vanity Fair was the one in support of the Zan Ddl. From the cover with Alice Pagani to the operation that went viral #diamociunamano, started by actors, artists, writers who are friends of the newspaper and continued with ordinary people showing the palm of their hand on which “Ddl Zan” was written, we have always been at the forefront to defend a law against hatred that seems necessary to us in Italy. However, at the end of October, in the Senate, the Zan Bill was definitively scuttled. For us, of course, it doesn’t end there. For this reason, we wanted to tackle the subject at the Vanity Fair Stories festival, with two special guests: the actor Pietro Turano, vice president of ArciGay, and the author Diego Passoni, speaker of Radio Deejay and writer.

First of all, the law is framed as an extension of the “Mancino law” and against discrimination based on sex, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and disability. Turano explains why the issue of gender identity is so important. Passoni, on the other hand, addresses the issue of the controversy, which some media have made, on the fact that this is a measure that is liked by famous people but far from the crowd., reversing the reasoning.

The debate then explains what are the future scenarios of the struggle for the rights of the LGBTQ + community, which must necessarily abandon the game of the Zan Bill, according to Turano, to make politicians take responsibility for its sinking. After that, many other issues must be introduced into the political agenda that are still pending, such as egalitarian marriage, the reform of the law on sex change and adoption.
