Pilots and flight attendants decided to maintain a strike at airports that is scheduled to take place this Monday (19). The workers refused a proposal to return to work made with the Superior Labor Court and joined the call of the National Union of Aeronauts.
The one-off stoppage takes place at the airports of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Campinas, Belo Horizonte, Brasília, Porto Alegre and Fortaleza. It will take place from 6 am to 8 am, according to the union. According to a decision by the Superior Labor Court, TST, 90% of aeronauts must continue working.
The Union of Aeronauts claim the recomposition of wage inflationary losses, in addition to real gain, “in view of the high prices of airline tickets that have generated increasing profits for companies”.
The category also required improvements in working conditions for the renewal of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, such as defining the start times for breaks and prohibiting changes to them, in addition to complying with existing limits on time on the ground between flight stages.
“Out of respect for society and users of the air transport system, the aeronauts will only stop for two hours, so all takeoffs will start after 8 am. However, all flights with organs for transplantation, patients on board, and vaccines will not be paralyzed”, declared the union.
So far, GRU Airport has reported that ten flights are delayed at Guarulhos Airport. The concessionaire advises passengers to look for airlines to find out the status of their flights.
In a note, Latam said that it has been negotiating with the National Union of Aeronauts since the beginning of September for the construction of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (ACT) and awaits the convening of an assembly by the Union for voting by the company’s crew.
GOL, on the other hand, told CNN that it will not comment on the strike and, as it is a sectoral matter, it is taking a position through the SNEA (National Union of Airline Companies), which should be consulted. Azul also said it will not manifest itself.
When talking about the readjustments requested by aeronauts, the National Union of Airline Companies (SNEA) said that the price of tickets has been strongly affected in recent years due to the pandemic, conflicts in Europe, the devaluation of the real against the dollar and the increase in the price of the oil as a justification for not having received the requested increases.
According to the SNEA, aviation kerosene (QAV) increased by 118% compared to 2019 and currently represents more than 50% of costs, which have a share of about 60% in dollars.
“Since the first negotiation meeting, the SNEA has ensured all the rights of the Collective Agreement and throughout the negotiation process, it has been open to dialogue, always with respect for the professionals who are part of the airline industry”.
The union said that, since the cobfered proposal was rejected, it has not received any proposal from the SNA.
“The SNEA believes that professional categories can defend their interests by all legitimate means, as long as the negotiating path is exhausted and legality is observed”, he pointed out.
