Pinocchio, the first image of the live-action with Tom Hanks

Collodi’s puppet returns to the screen and is finally available the first image of the version of Pinocchio with Tom Hanks as Mastro Geppetto, coming to Disney + in September. 2022, on the other hand, is full of appointments for the Mickey Mouse maison, from the celebrations of the 30 years of Disneyland Paris that have just begun to the arrival of two other feature films taken from the most beloved fairy tales, snow-white (with Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen) e The little Mermaid (shot in Sardinia).

As confirmed The Lion King, total fidelity to the animated version of Pinocchio – at least according to this first frame – remains amazing, to the point of thinking that animation really comes to life. A Disney realism, of course, but one that immediately brings back to childhood.

Three years after Matteo Garrone’s version with Roberto Benigni, director Robert Zemeckis brings his version of the Italian fairy tale to the stage at the same time as that of Guillermo Del Toro on Netflix with an all-star cast that includes Ewan McGregor (il Grillo), Tilda Swinton (the Fairy) and Christoph Waltz (the Fox).

Walt Disney, for its part, responds with actors of the caliber of Luke Evansto which the series about another character of the team, Gaston (iconic in the live action version of The beauty and the Beast with Emma Watson). Here he plays the Postillionalongside beloved characters from history, such as Jiminy Cricket (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), the Blue Fairy (Cynthia Erivo), the Fox (Keegan-Michael Key) and a new protagonist, the Seagull (Lorraine Bracco).

The wooden puppet here son of Tom Hanks is played by 14-year-old Briton Benjamin Evan Ainsworthmaking his debut a couple of years ago and already the protagonist of the hilarious comedy Flora & Ulyssesalso on Disney +, as well as a well-known face of Hill House (Netflix).
