Piracicaba city council candidate Renan Paes, 35, was stabbed in the arm during an attempted robbery, this Wednesday (25), in Piracicaba, a city located in the interior of São Paulo.

On social media, Renan, a former military police officer, stated that he had received a call from a colleague who said that a man was stealing items from the candidate’s electoral campaign. At that moment, Renan managed to locate the suspect, who confessed to the theft.

The former police officer highlighted that the suspect even said that the objects were in a scrapyard near the location. So, the two went together to the space, at which point Renan decided to call the police.

In a live broadcast on social media, Renan highlighted that during the fight he managed to strike the suspect, at which point he managed to remove the knife from the man’s hand.

According to the São Paulo Public Security Secretariat (SSP-SP), the man, who is also 35 years old, was located, confessed to the action and was arrested in flagrante delicto on Rua Dom Manoel, in the Jardim Ibirapuera neighborhood, in Piracicaba (SP).

The department states that the candidate was taken to UPA Vila Cristina by his own means. On social media, Renan highlighted that he fainted at the hospital, but has already been discharged.
