Piraeus Bank: Target for SME financing with new loans amounting to 1.3 billion euros in 2022

The positive general prospects of the tourism industry and the economy in general, but also the challenges created for businesses by the international macroeconomic environment, were discussed with Cretan businessmen, the senior general manager of Corporate and Investment Banking of Piraeus Bank, Theodoros Tzou and .

During the two-day visit that Mr. Tzouros paid to the prefectures of Heraklion and Lassithi, accompanied by Antonis Katraouras, General Manager, Head of Commercial Banking, Athanasios Chronopoulos, SME Hotel specialist and Evangelia Klinaki, Director of the Business Center, met with business units from the key sectors of the local economy.

Piraeus executives reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, providing them with guidance, know-how and financing through the use of available resources and with specialized products that cover, in addition to liquidity and investment needs, and energy costs and the cost of money.

Entrepreneurs conveyed a positive climate in terms of tourism, as seen at the beginning of the tourist season, which creates opportunities for all businesses, but also expressed their concern about the conditions created by the war in Ukraine, the energy crisis, inflation while discussing the possibilities that exist for companies to maintain their viability and continue their investment activity.

The stable growth perspective of the economy, the new resources arising from the Recovery Fund, the ease of financing by Greek banks are “tools” for small and medium-sized enterprises in order to cope with the conditions, stressed the bank executives and informed entrepreneurs about the possibilities of the Recovery Fund that can contribute to the modernization of businesses, enabling them to implement new investment plans.

As stressed by Mr. Tzouros, Piraeus Bank maintains its leading role, actively supports Greek companies and finances good and sustainable business plans, while for 2022, it aims to finance Small and Medium Enterprises with 1.3 billion euros new loans.
