Piraeus Bank: The robbers of the bank’s ATM left with painted and useless banknotes

According to the information of Piraeus Bank, the robbers left with painted and useless banknotes, who in the early hours of Saturday blew up the ATM of the bank located in the KEP of the municipality of Rafina-Pikermi, since their booty was 50 green, purple and red. 20 euros.

This is due to the Intelligent Banknote Neutralization System, the so-called smart banknote decommissioning system, with which Piraeus Bank supplies ATMs. Thus, the robbers’ attempts are doomed to failure, as the violation of an ATM in any way, activates the mechanism and the banknotes are painted, become useless and do not “pass” anywhere. Purple, green, blue, red or black, is the intense ink used that covers a large area while not being cleaned. With this clever system the bank neutralizes the value of the booty and therefore the incentive for theft.

The ATM in the KEP of the municipality of Rafina – Pikermi was equipped with this system and so the perpetrators left empty-handed, since the banknotes were painted and therefore useless.
