Six children were attacked by a pitbull at a school in Rio de Janeiro on the morning of Thursday (22). The attack, confirmed by the Fire Department, took place at the Liberdade Municipal School, in the West Zone of RJ.

The victims were taken to Pedro II Hospital and the animal, already under control, was rescued by the zoonosis team of Rio de Janeiro.

Rio de Janeiro Animal Protection Secretary Luiz Ramos Filho said the city is already providing all the support to the children bitten by Pitbull.

The animal was taken to the Zoonosis Control Center, where it will be castrated, vaccinated and pass through readers to see if it is microchipped. “If the animal is microchipped, we will easily keep the tutor. We have received many allegations of abandoned animals, especially from the Pitbull breed, endangering the lives of other people. I appeal not to abandon animals. Animal abandonment is a crime, with a sentence of two to five years in prison,” warns Secretary Luiz Ramos Filho.
