Pitel dismisses disagreements with Fernanda: “We have our own individualities”

Eliminated with 82% of the votes from BBB 24, Giovanna Pitel It may not have won the reality show, but it definitely won over the public. Two months after the end of the program, the former social worker became a presenter alongside Fernanda Bande — with whom the woman from Alagoas claims to still be friends.

In an interview with CNN Pitel was surprised by the turnaround her life had after the reality show. “I’m used to not winning,” she jokes.

If she previously led a life considered “peaceful” and common, the former BBB member says she never imagined she would pass the program’s selection process. As she progressed through the stages, the woman from Alagoas still refused to believe that she had a chance of being one of the chosen ones.

“I was so discredited that I didn’t resign from my job”, recalled Giovanna Pitel. As soon as everything worked out, the ex-sister preferred not to imagine what her new life would be like outside of confinement — so becoming a presenter was never part of her plans.

“I always felt very removed from the world of the arts, I was a social worker,” she said. “I don’t usually dream about these things, because it was something so far from my reality that I couldn’t imagine it.”

This feeling made Pitel seek out her former boss when she left confinement, hoping to get her job back. “He told me that the doors would always be open for me,” says the former BBB.

However, it wasn’t necessary. Shortly after the end of BBB 24, Giovanna Pitel and Fernanda Bande were invited to an internal Globo event. What was supposed to be just another commitment became the announcement that would change their professional perspective.

“We were invited to present this event. In the middle of it, they called us on stage to participate in a dynamic involving Rock in Rio. We were going to give away some tickets and do some funny things,” he explains.

Until Amauri Soares general director of TV Globo, took advantage of the space on stage, in front of several guests at the event, to announce the house’s new program: In Bed with Pitanda .

“It was a surprise, no one had spoken to us about it. It was there that we found out”, recalls Pitel, who previously only followed Internet users speculating about this possible project.

It didn’t take long until the program was ready to air on Multishow. “We had a wonderful team, preparing the cast in record time.”

New challenges

It was at this moment that a new challenge began for Giovanna Pitel: learning how to be a presenter. “No one becomes a presenter like that, with such quality, overnight, but it is something that I was very happy to do. I had that feeling of ‘I enjoyed doing this’”.

Despite this, starting over in another profession brought insecurities to the Alagoan. “If you ask me about my work as a social worker, I will know because I studied for a long time to do it. This is my field. So, when you win a program that will premiere on a certain day, you need to be ready”, says the former TV host.

Even in the face of challenges, Pitel guarantees that he did his best. “I know I have a lot to learn and improve, but this is just the beginning. The first program is scary, insecure. There’s someone at your point, someone at the microphone, the guest in front of you, a huge team to make it happen.”

If before BBB 24, Giovanna described herself as a woman who was resigned and happy with her reality, being the first in her family to earn more than the minimum wage, now she allows herself to dream. “After the reality show, Pitel is willing to go after a world of dreams.”

The not-so-positive side of recognition

Although life after the program offers many opportunities, the recognition also comes with some negatives. “You receive a lot of love, a lot of care, but also people who think they know what’s going on in your life, who don’t like you for some reason.”

However, the former BBB managed to handle situations like this with ease. Without being dazzled by her new life, the Alagoas native says that she sees her fans as people just like her, who identified with some point in her journey.

Even though she was still a patient, Giovanna Pitel was shocked by the way false rumors about her life spread online. When she least expected it, many people pointed out a possible disagreement between her and Fernanda Bande, as episodes of the program Na Cama com Pitanda were released.

“We were together at least three times a day, but I think people were so used to seeing us together 24 hours a day that they couldn’t assimilate our individualities,” says Giovanna.

“Within the program, we were each other’s support, our attachment, we were the fight and the love, the emotion and everything that the program provided. Out here, we have our own individualities. This does not nullify our friendship”, he explains. “There is no fight, there is no disagreement”, he reinforces.

Pitel’s future

Taking advantage of new professional opportunities, Giovanna Pitel says she has plans to improve in communication and theater. “I want to be lighter and more natural with the cameras, because I want to do another program or become an interviewer,” she says.

Among her personal dreams, the ex-BBB wants to buy a house for her mother and pay for school for her family’s children. As for a possible second season of her program with Fernanda, she says: “There could be one every month! We gave a lot of hints to the director.”
