THE Piauí Civil Police (PC-PI) arrested, in this Thursday (3), a gang responsible for extort victims through threats . They charged bank transfers so as not to disclose “nudes” on the internet. The blows took place in Piauí and Maranhão.
Through Police Station for Repression of Informatics Crimes (DRCI)the police launched the Digital Captive Operation. Five arrest warrants and seven search and seizure warrants were served.
The operation aims to dismantle the criminal group that practiced blows using intimate images on the internet. The action was supported by Intelligence Directorate of the Civil Police of Piauí and Maranhão and from Regional Police Station of Imperatriz (MA) and Açailândia (MA).
“Are you making a beast?”
The suspects used False profiles in social media to attract the victims. After the initial contact, they got intimate images and then required payments that totaled about R $ 80 thousand . To make false profiles more convincing, they used Women’s Photos removed from other people’s profiles.
In the messages obtained by PC-PI, criminals acted in a disguised way, even minimizing practices. In one of the images, the scammers write to one of the victims that “at no time” threatened them, and would only be “making a request.” Then he asks if the victim “is making himself a beast.”
At another time, it charges a thousand reais of a victim who had already given the blackmail. Scammers say the new charge was made because “I couldn’t do” what they wanted with the previous blow. In the negative, they point out that if the amount is not transferred, at another time, they would ask much more.

Criminals will be responsible for the crime of extortion provided for in Article 158 of the Brazilian Penal Code .
