Pixel 9 Pro Fold: Google launches new foldable phone model; meet

During the event this Tuesday (12) of Made by Google the company announced the launch of its new foldable smartphone : the Pixel 9 Pro Fold .

According to Google, the new model is thinner and has a larger internal screen — 5.1 mm and 8 inches when open — with the new Tensor G4 chip, designed for “Gemini era” from the company, with AI functions already built into the device.

The Pixel 9 Pro Fold was one of the new models in the Pixel line announced this Tuesday.

The smartphone has an internal Super Actua Flex OLED display, which is 80% brighter than Google’s previous foldable model, the Pixel Fold. The external 6.3-inch display is Actua OLED.

Both the exterior and interior feature scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 reinforced glass that is water resistant up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes of submersion.

When closed, the phone measures 6.1 by 3 inches, and is 8 inches wide when opened.

With a 48MP wide-angle rear camera, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold also has the Made You Look feature, which helps get young children to look towards the camera by displaying a fun animation on the phone’s external screen.

New AI Possibilities

The new Tensor G4 chip is designed to optimize the use of artificial intelligence models and will be the first to use Gemini Nano — Google’s AI model designed specifically for mobile devices.

Among the new AI tools that are already built into the new Pixel 9 models are:

• Gemini Live: allows the user to interact with Gemini through an informal conversation, in a more intuitive way.
• Pixel Studio: image generator using artificial intelligence.
• Pixel Screenshots: application that saves and organizes screenshots (and the information contained in them) taken by the user.
• Pixel Weather: Weather app that features AI-powered weather reports.
• Add Me: Camera feature that lets you combine two photographs into one, making it possible to include everyone in the photo, including the photographer.
• Panorama: Camera feature that optimizes panoramic photos.
• Magic Editor: Google Photos feature that helps you edit your photos, with new possibilities for changes using AI.
• Call Notes: A feature that sends a summary and transcribes phone calls.
• SOS via satellite: allows you to contact emergency services via satellite and share your location even without a cell phone signal.

The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is available to order and will arrive in select stores on September 4th for prices from US$ 1,799 (approximately R$ 9,800.00) . There is no information if or when the product will be available in Brazil.
