Google announced its plans to distribute another exclusive for branded Pixel smartphones to smartphones from other manufacturers.
This time we are talking about the Google Photos function (Google Photos) called Locked Folder, which Google translated into for Russian-speaking users as “Personal folders”.
Since May, these folders have only been available in Google Photos on Pixel smartphones, starting with the 2018 Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. This is how Google describes the function:
You can save your personal photos and videos to a dedicated folder in the Google Photos app. The folder can only be opened using the specified screen unlock method. Items in your private folder are not visible in Photos, Memories, Search Results, and Albums, and are not available in applications that have access to photos and videos on your device. ”
Now Google has promised that the feature will be available for other Android devices “soon” and for iOS early next year. Note that Google already made an announcement in September regarding expanding the reach of Personal Folders for Android. Then it was reported that all smartphones with Android version 6.0 Marshmallow and newer will have access to them. However, the spread has not yet begun.
