Pixies, Jack White: Popload Festival will give away tickets in exchange for NGO work

The Popload Festival announced, this Friday (12), a social action in which the public can volunteer for a day at an NGO and receive in exchange a ticket to the festival, which will have concerts by international artists such as Pixies, Jack White and Cat Power.

At Registration for “Popload Social” will open at noon this Friday through of this site. In total, 105 job vacancies will be offered, distributed among three NGOs in São Paulo.

Among the institutions chosen to participate in the action is the Beabaan institute focused on information and awareness “of patients, families and health professionals in an objective and optimistic way about cancer”.

Volunteers will also be able to work for a day at the David’s housea philanthropic hospital that assists people with disabilities and autism, or in the project “Two Breads and a Pinch”which distributes breakfast to homeless people in Praça da Sé, in the center of São Paulo.

“Popload Social is the way we found so that people who have little money to see our shows can enjoy the festival, in exchange for participating as volunteers in partner NGOs of the most varied causes. In this way, we are doubly fulfilled as an institution”, said Lúcio Ribeiro, creator of Popload, in a press release.

Popload Festival will have line-up with Pixies, Jack White and Cat Power

The Popload Festival will take place on October 12th, at Centro Esportivo Tietê, in central São Paulo. Tickets are on sale now and the first batch ranges from R$190 to R$680.

The event will be headlined by the alternative rock band Pixies, owner of the famous hit “Where Is My Mind?”, and the American guitarist, Jack White, who became world-renowned in the early 2000s by the duo The White Stripes.

The concert lineup is rounded off by Australian producer Chet Faker, British electropop project Years & Years, and singer Cat Power. From Latin American artists, Popload will have performances by the Argentine duo Perotá Chingó, and the singer from São Paulo, Jup do Bairro.

Practically half of Popload’s line-up – Pixies, Jack White and Cat Power – will also visit Argentina and Chile, but within the Primavera Sound festival schedule. The concerts of these three artists, which was called “Road to Primavera Sound” by the organizers, were excluded from the Brazilian edition.

This will be the first edition of the Popload Festival after consecutive postponements in 2020 and 2021 caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. Until then, the event took place at the Memorial da América Latina, in the São Paulo neighborhood of Barra Funda.

The last edition, in 2019, was also headlined by Jack White, but at that time with his band The Racounters.

This year’s edition will mark the Pixies’ return to Brazil since their performance at Lollapalooza in 2014. The group is on a world tour and is preparing an album for release in the second half of 2022.

Jack White, on the other hand, returns to Brazil in the midst of a productivity surge, with an album released in April and another scheduled for next month.

Tickets for the Popload Festival can be purchased through from this site. The Tietê Sports Center has the capacity to receive up to 15 thousand people.

In the first batch, tickets to the track cost R$ 380 (full price) and R$ 190 (half price). The premium track costs R$680 (full price) and R$340 (half-price).
