Teacher Gracinda Marina Castelo Da Silva, 47, is one of the 62 people who died in the crash of the Voepass ATR 72-500, which occurred in Vinhedo (SP) last Friday (9).
Gracinda was born in Portugal on August 27, 1976, but also had Brazilian nationality. She was a candidate for city councilor for the MDB in Toledo (PR), a city that is about 45 kilometers from Cascavel, from where the flight to Guarulhos (SP) departed.
Portugal’s Prime Minister Luis Montenegro expressed his condolences over the teacher’s death. He expressed “sorrow” and “consternation” over the accident and said the country was “available to provide all necessary support.”

The Government has already expressed its condolences to the family of Gracinda Marina Castelo da Silva, a Portuguese citizen who died in the plane crash in São Paulo. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also conveyed, in person, to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mauro Vieira the condolences expressed yesterday by the Prime Minister.

Gracinda had three children, had a PhD in chemical engineering and worked as a professor at the Federal Technological University of Paraná (UTFPR).
“In this moment of grief, UTFPR expresses its solidarity with the families and friends of professors Raquel and Gracinda, of former student Hadassa, and with professors Araceli, Priscila and Fabio for their losses. It also expresses its support to the entire academic community of the Toledo Campus, where the deceased employees carried out their activities,” wrote the university.
“Due to the tragedy, the UTFPR rectorate has declared three days of mourning for the entire institution in respect for the memory of the victims, their families, friends and the academic community.”
