Plane crash leaves at least three dead in Itapeva, in the south of Minas Gerais

At least three people died after a single-engine plane crashed, this Sunday morning (28), in the Monjolinho neighborhood, in the rural area of ​​Itapeva, in the extreme south of Minas Gerais. According to the Fire Department, there is still a search for other possible victims.

Witnesses who opened the call said they saw the plane breaking up in the air while flying over the region, and then its parts gradually falling to the ground.

Firefighters from Extrema are working at the scene, and confirmed that they found the bodies of two men and a woman, still unidentified, inside the aircraft. Agents continue to search for other possible victims in the region where the aircraft wreckage fell, within an approximate radius of 400 meters.

The plane, prefix PS-MTG, model PA-46-350P, was manufactured by the company Piper Aircraft. According to records from the National Civil Aviation Agency, the aircraft had its documents up to date, but was not authorized for air taxi.

The Aeronautical Accident Investigation and Prevention Center (CENIPA) was called to investigate the case.

Investigators from the Third Regional Service for the Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (SERIPA III), located in Rio de Janeiro (RJ), a regional body of the Center for Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (CENIPA), were called this Sunday (28/01 ), to carry out the Initial Action of the occurrence involving the aircraft registered PS-MTG, in Itapeva (MG).

In the Initial Action, specific techniques are used, conducted by qualified and accredited personnel who carry out the collection and confirmation of data, the preservation of the elements of the investigation, the initial verification of damage caused to the aircraft, or by the aircraft, and the collection of other necessary information to the investigation process.

The conclusion of the investigations will take as short a time as possible, always depending on the complexity of each occurrence and, also, the need to discover possible contributing factors.
