Plane crash survivors in Acre undergo surgery

The six survivors of the plane crash, which occurred this Monday (18), are still receiving medical assistance from Acre State Health (Sesacre), at the Rio Branco Emergency Room. Three victims are in serious condition and three others are stable.

According to the Emergency Room management, the three patients considered most seriously ill were Suani Camelo, 30 years old; Valdir Roney de Souza Mendes, 59 years old and pilot of the plane; and Amélia Cristina Rocha, 28 years old, are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Survivors in serious condition underwent debridement surgeries, that is, removal of non-viable tissue from the wounds. Patients Bruno Fernando dos Santos, aged 36, and Mateus Jeferson Fonte, aged 26, are stable and will continue to be monitored in the unit's infirmary.

According to the emergency hospital, another survivor, Delisiane Salomão Calisto, 15 years old, with a less serious condition, continues to be treated at the Manoel Urbano Mixed Unit.

The injured were transferred from Manoel Urbano, where the aircraft crashed, to the emergency room in the state capital on Monday afternoon (18).

The fall

The plane crashed about a kilometer from the runway threshold. Seven people were on the aircraft that was destined for the city of Santa Rosa do Purus. The accident left Peruvian businessman Sidney Estuardo Hoyle Vega dead and six others injured.

The aircraft, registered PT-JUN, had its airworthiness certificate cancelled, according to the Brazilian Aeronautical Registry.
