A small aircraft fell on the morning of Friday (7) in the Barra Funda region, west of São Paulo, leaving a trail of destruction and victims.
The Lieutenant Jefferson de Souza, from the Military Police one of the first to arrive at the scene, reported to CNN The initial details of the accident.
According to the lieutenant, the fall of the aircraft was notified by popular while his car patrolled the marginal Tietê.
“We followed the smoke and soon identified that it was Marquês de São Vicente Avenue,” he said.
Trail of destruction
The accident left a trail of destruction along the avenue. The first point of impact was recorded at the intersection with Nicolas Boer Street, where the aircraft hit a coconut tree.
“He came to try to land, but at the height of the number 2154 of the Marquis of São Vicente He hit the ground, ”explained the lieutenant.
On the way, the aircraft hit a motorcycle and a bus that was standing at a point, starting a fire that consumed half the vehicle.
Lieutenant Souza reported that there is “a very large trail of aviation kerosene” on site.
Victims and first aid
The accident left several victims. In addition to the rider hit by wreckage of the aircraft, five people who were at the bus stop were rescued with minor injuries.
Authorities still do not have information about the state of the aircraft before the fall or if it was already on fire.
The first actions of the Military Police at the scene were to isolate the area, remove onlookers and confirm the triggering of the Fire Department to combat the intense fire that formed.
The Traffic Engineering Company (CET) was also quickly mobilized to assist in traffic control in the region.
Investigations on the causes of the accident are underway. Aeronautical authorities and expertise teams should examine the wreckage and collect information to determine the factors that led to the aircraft drop in a busy area of São Paulo.
