An Air Europa plane had to make an emergency landing, in the early hours of this Monday (1), at Natal airport, the capital of Rio Grande do Norte. The State Department of Public Health informed the CNN that 30 people who were on the flight were rescued.
The aircraft had left Montevideo, Uruguay, and was destined for the capital of Spain, Madrid. The landing was necessary after the aircraft faced intense turbulence.
Samu was called by the concessionaire that manages the airport and 15 ambulances were needed to assist the victims.
The 30 passengers underwent medical evaluation and were transported to city hospitals directly from the runway. Most were sent to Monsenhor Walfredo Gurgel Hospital.
In a video recorded inside the aircraft, it is possible to see that the cabin’s luggage compartments were damaged. Watch:
Zurich Airport Brasil, which manages the terminal, reported the aircraft was received at 2:32 a.m. today after requesting an emergency landing. “The protocols for dealing with this type of incident were activated. Passengers who required medical care were taken by ambulance to health facilities,” it said in a statement.
