A small plane made a forced landing this Sunday afternoon (21) on Rodovia Adhemar Pereira de Barros (SP-342), in São João da Boa Vista, in the interior of São Paulo.
According to the Highway Police, the incident happened around 1 p.m. The Pitts Experimental model aircraft suffered an engine failure. The pilot was not injured.
Upon landing, the plane collided with a road sign and stopped on the highway loop.
Traffic was not interrupted. The Military and Highway Police responded to the incident.
The aircraft was removed by tow truck to São João da Boa Vista Airport.
Investigators from the Fourth Regional Service for the Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (SERIPA IV), a regional body of the Center for Research and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (CENIPA), were notified of the accident involving the experimental aircraft, without brand and registration, in Highway in the interior of São Paulo.
In a note, the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) informs that data relating to the event has already been collected and analyzed by investigators and “the occurrence will be treated in accordance with the precepts of Annex 19 to the Convention on International Civil Aviation”.
