Plane needs to change landing location due to smoke from fires in MS

An Azul flight that left Campinas (SP) and was going to Corumbá (MS) had to land in Bonito, also in Mato Grosso do Sul, after smoke at the airport of origin made it impossible to land.

The smoke that caused the change in the landing site is a result of forest fires in the region.

According to the company, passengers who would disembark in Corumbá were transported by land, as well as those who would embark in the city bound for Campinas.

The company regretted what happened and said that all customers received the necessary assistance. “Actions like this are necessary to guarantee the safety of its operations, a fundamental value”, says the company.

Aena, the concessionaire responsible for Corumbá airport, stated that the aerodrome needed to operate using instruments on Thursday. “Still, the flight scheduled to land in the morning was switched to another destination. Aena recommends that passengers contact the airline to check the status of their flight.”
