Plane with Brazilians who left Ukraine arrives in Brazil

The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) KC-390 Millennium aircraft, which traveled to Warsaw, Poland, to pick up Brazilian and foreign citizens who left Ukraine as a result of the war, returned to Brazil this Thursday (10).

The moment of the passengers’ return and disembarkation was shared by the FAB on social networks. Passengers applaud as the plane lands at Recife Air Base, capital of Pernambuco, at 6:44 am.

In total, 42 Brazilians, 20 Ukrainians, five Argentines, one Colombian, 14 children, eight dogs and two cats are on the aircraft. There are 14 children among the citizens.

According to a policy analyst at CNN, Basília Rodrigues, the government held meetings with airlines that will transport people to their final destinations in Brasília, where the FAB aircraft will then depart.

Named Operation Repatriation, this was the first FAB flight to Europe to bring Brazilians and other citizens who left Ukraine in the last few days after the Russian invasion of the territory.

Most refugees head to Poland, a country bordering the east. According to the United Nations (UN), more than 2 million people have left Ukraine since the beginning of the conflict.

On the way out, 11.6 tons of medicines were also sent for emergency care, food and basic necessities for humanitarian aid.
