Platinum Jubilee Celebrations Celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s Longevity and Legacy

The British celebrate from this Thursday (2) the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, in London. The festivities mark the monarch’s 70th birthday on the British throne. Elizabeth became Queen of England in 1952 following the death of her father, King George VI, and recently became the longest-serving person in the history of the British royal family.

Even with much of her reign marked by family scandals, Queen Elizabeth is also recognized for her efforts to convey an image of stability amid turbulent moments in history over the last few decades and maintains good popularity ratings with the British.
