The body of amateur football player Kauã Galdino Florêncio Pereira, aged 18, who was killed on New Year’s Eve during a funk dance in Queimados, in Baixada Fluminense, will be laid to rest and buried this Sunday afternoon (5).
The wake is scheduled to begin at 2pm. The burial will take place at 4pm. Both will be at the Jardim Envida Rio cemetery, in Queimados.

The athlete was shot after accidentally stepping on the foot of a man identified as the leader of drug trafficking in the area. The Homicide Police identified the shooter as Márcio Lucas Rosa de Sousa, known as Iron Man. He has not yet been located
According to the police, Kauã even apologized to the criminal, but he didn’t accept it. The young man was taken to the top of Morro São Simão and was shot twice, one of them in the head.
The victim was taken to an Emergency Care Unit (UPA) in Queimados and then transferred to the Nova Iguaçu General Hospital. Brain death was confirmed last Thursday night (2) and the family was notified the following morning.
According to the Civil Police, the criminal has already been convicted of trafficking and association for drug trafficking and robbery and was imprisoned for eight years. He was released in January 2024.
After confirming the football player’s brain death, his family authorized the young man’s organs to be donated.
