PlayStation 5 versus a top-end PC with a GeForce RTX 3090. Is there a difference?

The debate about which is better – a console or a PC – never ceases, and with the release of new generations of consoles, they flare up with renewed vigor.

PlayStation 5 versus a top-end PC with a GeForce RTX 3090. Is there a difference?

Testing Games decided to compare the PlayStation 5 with a top-end PC based on GeForce RTX 3090 and Core i9-10900K in 4K resolution to understand what the difference is.

As you can see, there is a difference. Textures on PS5 are sometimes less clear or soapy, as is often said. In this case, for comparison, it is often necessary to perceptibly bring one or another area closer. It is also worth noting that often the difference can only be noticed in statics, and during the gameplay, it is much more difficult or even impossible to see the differences. Moreover, in the same Cyberpunk 2077, in some places the situation visually seems to be the opposite: distant objects on a PC seem less clear.

In general, at the moment, there is no huge difference between a console and a top-end PC. PC backers might argue that consoles will be on the market for a long time to come, with new graphics cards coming out in the meantime. At the same time, there will always be at least prices on the side of PlayStation (and Xbox).

Now it is very difficult to buy an RTX 3090 or PS5, but at least with the recommended prices, at least in the current situation only one such video card is several times more expensive than a set-top box.
