PlayStation Spartacus will offer access to games for PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4 and PS5, as well as PSP

As it became known, Sony is preparing a new service PlayStation Spartacus, which will feature games from the PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3 and other consoles. Scheduled to launch next fall, it will be a response to Microsoft’s Xbox Gamepass service.

The source for Bloomberg was a Sony employee who asked to remain anonymous. He has access to documents with such information. PlayStation Spartacus will be integrated with other services of the company: PS Plus and PS Now. The new service will be available on both PS4 and PS5.

The PlayStation Spartacus will be split into three categories, in one of which users will be able to stream classic games from PS1, PS2, PS3 as well as PSP. Another category will have an extensive catalog of options for the PS4, and a third for the PS5. At the same time, the service will not include games from the PS Vita, which Sony itself considers a failure.

It remains to wait and see when the service will be launched and how widespread it will be. PS Now, for example, is not available in all countries of the world.

Bloomberg is a trusted source, but any such information should be treated with caution before Sony’s official announcement.
