Plopping: how to get defined curly hair

A healthy, full-bodied, soft hair, just like the one shown on Instagram by Khloé Kardashian is a bit ‘the dream of all curls. The absence of frizzy lengths and that palpable definition (almost) visibly are among the most difficult results to obtain if you don’t stick to small basic rules. That is, the choice of specific products, an effective and above all constant hair-care routine, together with functional drying.

Apart from knowing how to juggle with the diffuser – an inevitable accessory for the heads curly -, the technique of plopping, from to plop, or “let it fall”. It is a homemade curling technique, which only requires the use of an old T-shirt, together with specific products that help moisturize the hair, facilitating the definition of the curl and avoiding the dreaded frizz effect.

Wavy hair plopping: how it works

After shampooing and dabbing the hair to remove excess water, a mousse or styling product is applied to help define the curl. Then you place the cotton t-shirt, completely open, on a chair or on the bed and lay the lengths on it, remaining upside down. The only precaution: make sure that the locks and therefore the curls fold well on themselves. Once done, we proceed to cover the entire hair, up to the nape, with the t-shirt, creating a turban that will be closed with the sleeves of the t-shirt. At this point all that remains is to raise your head and wait. According to some schools of thought, an abundant half hour is enough, to then finish the drying with the diffuser. The most meticulous, patient and even courageous given the low temperatures, can keep the turban all night long and discover the result upon awakening. To you the choice.
