If on social media you have seen creators immerse their made-up face in water, this is not a beauty madness but there is a reason. This hack comes from South Korea, it’s called Jamsu and it seems that model Bella Hadid is also a fan of it. It allows to mattify the face and fixes the make-up, more than a setting spray. Skin care is part of the Korean tradition, and is encouraged from an early age. Having flawless and radiant skin is a sign of true beauty, a gesture that is not just a duty, but a ritual of pleasure.
The word «Jamsu» roughly translates to “immerse”. After applying primer, foundation and concealer, everything is fixed with a transparent powder. Then you dip your face in cold water for 15-30 seconds and pat your skin with a towel. The result? A matte finish that keeps makeup going much longer.
Obviously the Jamsu goes against the trend with another popular beauty trend: the dewy skin. So if you love slightly wet dewy skin, this technique is not for you. But it is still useful when the temperatures rise and the make-up drips more easily, or for all those times that you need to prolong the performance of the make-up. Alternatively, you can apply the powder only on the T-zone, which is more prone to becoming shiny, and then immerse the whole face in the water. Thus the rest of the face will remain less opaque.

MOCHI SKIN: THE OPAQUE VERSION OF THE GLASS SKIN
It is exactly the opposite of the glass skin and is inspired by the typical Japanese dessert. On the face it results in a soft, hydrated skin free of lines due to dryness. Let’s say that the hydration unites the mochi ski with the glass skin while to differentiate them is the finish: opaque in the first, bright in the second. This does not mean having dull skin, but luminous without, however, the illuminating effect. Therefore, all oil products should be eliminated, light textures and rice-based serums and essences or tonics should be preferred.
THE TECHNIQUE OF BAKING
It is a lifting effect make-up technique that fixes make-up, erases pores and wrinkles. To make the baking make-up, the concealer is applied to the most marked areas of the face, covered with a layer of transparent powder and left there for about thirty minutes until it is completely absorbed. Then, to even out the complexion, spread the excess with a sponge.
THE TIKTOK METHOD
Take your beauty routine and change the order of application of the products. After the day cream, dust a transparent face powder, set with a spray, let it dry, apply the primer and continue with the foundation. Although the rules say to use liquid products before powder ones, doing the opposite gives a skin with a porcelain texture.
BANANA POWDER
All make-up artists use it. Banana powder is the indispensable face powder to fix makeup and avoid the shiny effect during the day. The name might lead you to think that it contains banana powder, but in reality it has only the color of the exotic fruit. A light yellow, perfect for covering dark circles and illuminating by mattifying. Is it possible to opacify and illuminate at the same time? With banana powder, yes. Mattifies because it eliminates the shine of the skin without giving a cakey effect (mask), and at the same time covers the shadow areas and the imperfections of the face giving radiance.
