Two people died on the afternoon of last Thursday (15) after a paragliding fall at Pico da Courage in Japeri, Baixada Fluminense. The victims were identified as Marcelo Jorge Pires, 1st Sergeant of the Military Police, and Tyago Bezerra de Souza Silva.
According to information from the 24th BPM (Queimados), police were called to provide support after the registration of a possible paragliding accident. Upon arriving at the scene, they were informed that two men had disappeared in a forest area during a double flight.
The Fire Department searched with the support of an aircraft, which supported the removal of the bodies, due to the difficult access to the land. The case was registered at the 63rd DP (Japeri), which instituted an inquiry to investigate the circumstances of the accident.

Marcelo Jorge Pires was a military policeman since 2001, packed in the 2nd BPM (Botafogo). I was off at the time of the accident. On social networks, uniformed colleagues paid tribute to the sergeant: “He dedicated his life to the mission of serving and protecting our society, demonstrating courage, dedication and exemplary commitment throughout his career in the corporation.”
He leaves wife and children.
