The Court accepted the complaint from the Public Ministry of Pernambuco (MPPE) against military police officer João Gabriel Tenório Ferreira, aged 26, making him a defendant for the femicide of his ex-girlfriend, Maria Clara Adolfo de Souza, aged 21.
The crime occurred on the night of July 24 this year, when the nursing technician, who was almost four months pregnant, was hit by several gunshots, in the Socorro neighborhood, in Jaboatão dos Guararapes, in Greater Recife.
According to the victim’s relatives, Maria Clara had a relationship with the PM for approximately three years. Family members informed the police that João Gabriel did not accept the nursing technician’s pregnancy.
Understand the case
Investigations indicate that, on July 24 of this year, Maria Clara received a call from João Gabriel, warning that he would send money to her through a friend.
Then, she sent an audio to the family informing them that she was going to meet this person. A few minutes later, after leaving the house, a motorcycle with two men approached and shots were fired at the victim, who was hit more than ten times.
According to the Court of Justice of Pernambuco (TJPE), in addition to the military police officer, Eduardo Oliveira da Silva also became a defendant. The investigation showed that he was responsible for riding the motorcycle on the day of the crime.
In a note, the TJPE explained that in the same decision, the 1st Court of the Jury of the District of Jaboatão dos Guararapes forwarded the summons to the defendant and to the Public Prosecutor’s Office upon receipt of the complaint.
In response, the defendant’s defense must present a prior written argument. As soon as there is this response to the defendant’s summons, the Court will be able to schedule the first hearing for the case.
The two, João Gabriel and Eduardo Oliveira, were arrested on August 1st.
