A joint action by the Arpão Base security forces, working in the Safer Border operation, seized almost 75 kg of drugs last Sunday night (28). Some of the drugs were hidden in sardine cans and were located by a Military Police dog.
The material was on a vessel that was destined for the capital Manaus and departed from the municipality of Tabatinga, in the interior. The city is located on the triple border between Brazil, Colombia and Peru, an area considered to require considerable attention from security forces.
During the inspection, the dog Athena, from the Independent Police Company with Dogs (CipCães), of the Amazonas Military Police, signaled that there were narcotics in the passengers' luggage. Some of the drug was also found inside sardine cans. The seizure generated R$3 million in damage to organized crime.
All the material was seized and sent to the Amazonas Civil Police, which is part of the Arpão 1 River Base.
