A 46 -year -old surgeon, who also acts as a sergeant of the Ceará Military Police and owns mining in the Northeast region, was arrested in the city of Terra Nova, in the Pernambuco Sertão, for suspected of having killed a former employee after a custody hearing in 2023.
The arrest was carried out by the Pernambuco Civil Police Special Operations Group (GOE) and released on the afternoon of Monday (28). The suspect was arrested in compliance with a pre -trial arrest warrant for crimes of homicide and concealment of the corpse.
According to the investigations, he is appointed as the author of the murder of 47-year-old Reginaldo Gomes Barbosa, former employee and bucket driver. The crime would have occurred shortly after a hearing in the Labor Court in July 2023 in Salgueiro (PE). Reginaldo sued the employer, who, according to police, threatened to kill employees who filed lawsuits against his mining company.
Witnesses told investigators that, leaving the forum, Reginaldo was approached by the suspect, who would be armed and forced to enter a vehicle. Ten days later, a charred body was found in the countryside of the city of Jardim, in the interior of Ceará. DNA tests confirmed the victim’s identity.
In testimony, the suspect denied involvement in the crime. During the approach, police also seized a 12 -gauge shotgun with the doctor. Therefore, he was charged in the act for illegal possession of a firearm. The suspect was sent to the prison system, where he remains available to the court.
