PM kills motorcyclist after refusing to pay R$7 for app ride in Pernambuco

The Civil Police of Pernambuco is investigating the case of a military police officer who shot and killed, this Sunday (1), app motorcyclist Thiago Fernandes Bezerra, aged 23, in the Alberto Maia neighborhood, in Camaragibe, in the Metropolitan Region of Recife.

Preliminary information indicates that the crime occurred after an argument over paying for a ride worth R$7.

According to the Military Police, when trying to escape, the PM was attacked by witnesses and had to be taken to a hospital in the region. The case occurred in front of the Parque Real Carden Condominium, on Rua Barão de São Francisco, and was recorded by security cameras.

In the images, it is possible to see the moment when the confusion begins. The police officer allegedly refused to pay for the ride, which led to a disagreement with the motorcyclist. During the discussion, Thiago reportedly questioned the police officer’s attitude, which resulted in the shooting.


After the crime, the suspect tried to escape. The PM even entered the condominium to change his shirt.

however, minutes later, he was located on a bus on Avenida Belmiro Correia, in Camaragibe, where he was attacked by members of the public before being rescued by the Military Police.

In a statement, the Military Police reported that a .38 caliber revolver was seized from the officer.

The case is investigated by the 10th Homicide Police Station of Pernambuco, while the PMPE initiated an internal administrative process, which could result in the expulsion of the police officer from the corporation.
