PM off duty kills outsourced CET server after being hit by traffic sign

An off-duty military police officer killed an employee who was working for the Traffic Engineering Company (CET) in Santana, north of São Paulo, on Thursday (13).

According to the Public Security Secretariat of São Paulo (SSP), the employee – identified as Alberes Fernandes e Lima, 34 years old – was installing a road sign at the site when the material fell on the PM’s head.

Alberes then allegedly made mention of being armed, to which the PM reacted by shooting at him. The man was taken to the hospital, but succumbed to his injuries and died.

In note, the consortium Move-SP, responsible for the employee, lamented the death of Alberes and said he was accompanying the investigation of the facts by the authorities.

“We express our deepest solidarity and condolences to the family, friends and co-workers”, says the consortium statement.

The PM must undergo a custody hearing this Friday (14), at the São Paulo Court of Justice (TJ-SP).
