PM operation seizes rifles and grenades in community in RJ

This Saturday (23), the Special Police Operations Battalion carried out simultaneous operations in the Rio das Pedras and Sertão communities, in the west zone of the city of Rio de Janeiro.

During the PM’s work, carried out through the Special Operations Battalion (BOPE), they seized eight rifles, two pistols, 21 grenades and several gun magazines, as well as a large quantity of drugs .

Also this Saturday, a raid resulted in a shootout between police and criminals and caused panic in the central region of Rio de Janeiro.

The Rio de Janeiro Military Police reported that agents from the 4th BPM (São Cristóvão) were on patrol when they saw three suspects in a car at the exit of the Rebouças Tunnel, heading towards the city center.

According to the PM, the bandits tried to steal another vehicle and, when they saw the police, they started shooting at the agents.

A video captured the criminals’ assault. They stop traffic on the road and approach vehicles to carry out thefts. The video shows the road stopped both above and below a bridge.

“Everything stopped, the bullet flew up there,” said a witness.

The Military Police stated that, after the confrontation, there were no injuries and the criminals fled. Policing was reinforced in the region.
