PM removes police officer filmed slapping woman in the face in SP Metro

The São Paulo Military Police reported that they identified and removed from the streets, this Monday (8), the police officer who was filmed slapping a woman in the face on the platform at Luz station, on the São Paulo Metro.

According to the corporation, a Military Police Inquiry (IPM) was launched to investigate all the circumstances of the incident. In practice, the PM's removal means that he will carry out administrative services, without working on the streets.

The video showing the attack was recorded by witnesses and went viral on social media. The situation occurred last Saturday (6).

A person who commented on one of the videos said he witnessed the attack and reported that before the slap to the face captured by cell phone cameras, the police officer had already hit the victim with kicks and other slaps.

A CNN he spoke with the victim's family, who corroborated the version of more attacks and explained that the woman was returning from work when she sat on the platform to wait for the train. At that moment, the police officer approached her and attacked her with pushes and kicks. “When she was on the ground, she was slapped in the face,” reported one of the family members.

In the video, it is possible to see that the victim is defenseless on the ground, when the police officer shouts at her, pointing his finger in the woman's face asking her to lower her hand. After the attack, the police officer leaves the scene.

The woman is accompanied by the Mogiano LGBT+ Forum, an association defending the rights of the LGBTQIA+ population of Mogi das Cruzes. The victim filed a digital police report and must undergo a criminal examination later this week, according to her defense.
