PM sniper shoots and hits suspect's gun in Santos; see photo

A criminal was prevented by a top sniper from the Military Police's Commands and Special Operations (COE) from continuing to shoot at agents who were carrying out an operation in a forested area, in Vila Progresso, in Santos, in the early hours of this Friday ( 23).

The criminals, who were hiding in the region, shot at the police officers, who were investigating information about drug trafficking in the area.

A police officer serving as the leader of the group shot at the criminals, injuring one of them. The team continued to search for the suspects, who fled.

The house where one of those involved was hiding was found through a trail of blood. The man had injuries to his arm and wrist and was taken to the hospital, where he was admitted under police escort.

A .45 caliber weapon, used in the confrontation, was the target of the shooting and was located by the police. Furthermore, 3,600 pins of cocaine, 170 rocks of crack, 77 bags of skunk and 86 of marijuana, radio communicators and a cell phone were found.

According to the São Paulo Secretary of Public Security (SSP-SP), the case was presented in the 7th Police District of the city of Santos and remains under investigation.
