The corporation stated that Gabriel had criminal records for drug trafficking, and the woman had a history of offenses. After the incident, Gabriel was rescued and taken to the hospital, but could not resist his injuries and died. The woman was arrested, and a second suspect involved in the approach fled.

The State Council for the Defense of the Rights of the Human Person (Condepe) issued a note of repudiation, classifying police action as an act of excessive violence . The agency also required a rigorous investigation and accountability of those involved, denouncing the increase in police lethality in the state of São Paulo.
The council questioned the proportionality of the use of force, arguing that there was no justification for the use of lethal force against a unarmed young especially considering the availability of non -lethal techniques and weapons.
Lawyer Gustavo Pires, chairman of the Piracicaba OAB Human Rights Commission, said he will follow the investigation. “We see the action with excess. Obviously, we need a higher investigation about the case, but we will be following the investigation so that if there was any excess, there was some police error, to be penalized,” he said.
The Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) reported that The case is being investigated by the 3rd Homicide Police Station of the Piracicaba Deic, and that the Military Police also established a military police inquiry to investigate the facts.
The SSP stressed that it does not tolerate deviations of conduct or excess by its agents, and that those involved will be held responsible if irregularities are found.
