The Pernambuco Military Police reported that the police officer involved in the death of motorcyclist Thiago Fernandes Bezerra, aged 23, could be expelled from the corporation. The crime occurred this Sunday (1st), in the Alberto Maia neighborhood, in Camaragibe, in the metropolitan region of Recife.
According to initial information, the police officer shot Thiago after an argument over the payment of a R$7 ride . When trying to escape, the PM was attacked by members of the public and had to be taken to a hospital in the region.
The Pernambuco Civil Police, through the 10th Homicide Police Station (DPH), is investigating the case. In a statement, the PMPE reported that it seized a .38 caliber revolver from the suspect and highlighted that the ongoing administrative process could result in the expulsion of the police officer from the corporation. The suspect was arrested red handed.
The crime, which occurred in front of the Parque Real Carden Condominium, on Rua Barão de São Francisco, was recorded by security cameras. In the images, it is possible to see the beginning of the confusion, which would have started when the police officer refused to pay the fare, causing a disagreement with the motorcyclist. After committing the crime, the suspect tried to escape, entering the condominium and changing his shirt. However, minutes later, he was located on a bus on Avenida Belmiro Correia, in Camaragibe, where he was attacked by members of the public before being rescued by the Military Police.
This Monday morning (2), Thiago’s friends and colleagues held a protest in search of justice. The demonstration blocked Avenida Dr. Belmiro Correia, in Camaragibe, causing great mobilization in the region.
