The Military Police of Rio de Janeiro investigates the work of military police as private security guards by pastor Silas Malafaia.
Malafaia was the victim of an attempted robbery in Olaria, in the north of Rio de Janeiro, on the afternoon of last Tuesday (26). The criminals exchanged fire with the pastor’s security guards after approaching the vehicle.
The PM Secretariat reported that the General Inspectorate of the Military Police opened a internal procedure to investigate if the security guards were military police officers doing a “side job”, practice prohibited by the corporation.
A video recorded the moment the criminals approached Silas Malafaia’s car. The bandits arrived in a white car, got out of the vehicle and announced the robbery.
The image from a security camera shows when they approach the vehicle window with weapons where was the pastor, who didn’t roll down the window. The security guards then shoot and the suspects manage to flee the scene.
After the confrontation, the police reported that one of the suspects was found hospitalized in a private hospital and was arrested. He remained in the unit under police custody.
During the action, agents seized a vehicle used by criminals, which was stolen. The incident was registered at the 22nd DP (Penha).
THE CNN requested a position from Silas Malafaia’s office and is awaiting a response.
