Armando Freitas Filho, one of the biggest names in Brazilian poetry, died at the age of 84, this Thursday (26).
He was born in Rio de Janeiro, in 1940, and is the author of a vast poetic work, such as “Palavra” (1963), “À mano livre” (1979), “3×4” (1985), “Raro mar” ( 2006), “Rol” (2016), among others.
The death occurred in Rio de Janeiro. The cause has not yet been reported.
On social media, Companhia das Letras expressed solidarity with readers, family and friends of Armando. A final book, named “Respiro” will be published by the publisher soon.
During his artistic career, the poet received prominent awards in Brazilian literature, such as the Jabuti, in addition to the National Library, APCA and Rio Prize.
