Four miners have been killed in an earthquake at a mine in the south Poland and rescuers are still trying to reach six others trapped in the galleries, said owner JSW.
“The doctor confirmed the death of two other miners,” the company announced today, after earlier reporting that two of the workers at the galleries had been found dead.
The quake affected the area where the Borinia-Zofiovka mine is located on Saturday morning. At that time, there were 52 employees in the galleries and 42 of them managed to get out in time. Late Saturday night, rescuers managed to reach the spot where four miners were trapped, but they were all already dead.
This is the second accident in a week at a mine owned by JSW. Five people were killed and seven were trapped inside the Pniovek mine on Wednesday after an explosion..
