Poland gives $15 billion to buy Patriot from the US

THE Poland has submitted a request to acquire, for a price of $15 billion, integrated air defense systems Patriot from the USAthe American Pentagon revealed yesterday Wednesday (6/28).

The agency of the US Department of Defense responsible for arms sales abroad, DSCA (Defense Security Cooperation Agency), explained that the sale will include up to 48 launch systems and up to 644 PAC-3 missiles, as well as the necessary radar and training.

According to the DSCA, the foreign ministry, on whose consent arms exports depend, approved the transaction.

“The proposed sale will improve Poland’s missile defense capabilities and contribute to Poland’s goals of modernizing its hardware and increasing interoperability with the US and other allies.”according to a press release from the agency.

Patriot systems are designed to intercept missiles and aircraft even if they are moving at very high speeds. The system’s arrays developed in Ukraine are praised by Kiev for proving very effective in protecting the capital from Russian airstrikes with regular ballistic missiles and even hypersonic missiles.
