Poland today signed an agreement with Washington on the purchase of 250 Abrams tanks as Warsaw seeks to strengthen its military arsenal to prevent a possible Russian offensive on its eastern border.
The sale of these combat civilians to Poland, where a US missile defense facility will be set up, is another indication of the deep and growing defense relationship with the United States.
The deal follows the deployment of nearly 5,000 additional US troops to Poland as well as more fighter jets as part of Washington’s response to the Ukraine crisis.
Polish Defense Minister Marius Blazak said the deal to buy Abrams was worth about $ 4.75 billion and that the first of these tanks would be delivered this year.
