Poland: PGNiG to cut gas prices for small businesses by 25%

Polish PGNiG will cut gas prices for small businesses by 25% from today, the country’s State Assets Minister Jacek Sasin announced on Twitter, according to Reuters.

Businesses across Poland have reported receiving notices that their gas bills will increase compared to 2021, with some of them shutting down.

“I have instructed PGNiG to take measures to reduce gas costs by a quarter for businesses such as bakeries, hairdressers and service providers,” he wrote on Twitter, adding that the price reduction would take effect on Friday.

The subsidiary of PGNiG, which is responsible for selling gas to small businesses, added that the reduction will be valid until the end of February.

Earlier this week, the Polish government announced a new law to limit the impact of rising gas prices on public bodies such as hospitals.
