Polar air mass lowers temperatures in the South and Southeast on Sunday

The first weekend of winter starts with sun, few clouds and heat in most of the interior of Brazil. Dry air predominates over the country leading to little or no cloud cover.

A cold front advances across the ocean and, this Saturday (25), passes along the coast of the Southeast region. Until the night, this cold front arrives in Espírito Santo and the sea wind gains strength, spreading moisture over the areas close to the South and Southeast seas.

In an interview with CNN Climatempo meteorologist Fabiene Casamento detailed how temperatures are this weekend with the arrival of a polar air mass.

“THE cold front will bring with it an air mass of polar and cold origin that will decrease temperatures both in Rio Grande do Sul and between São Paulo, Sul de Minas, Zona da Mata and Rio de Janeiro. Therefore, the temperatures must plummet . Rio de Janeiro should have temperatures around 21°C. There is a risk of frost in the areas of the campaign, in the southern and western borders of Rio Grande do Sul”, says Fabiene.

Strong winds spread many high clouds over the interior of the southern region, with no forecast of rain. Some heavy clouds grow in the extreme north of Brazil and along the coast of the Northeast.

“The trend is that a cold front will pass, the same one that caused storms in the last few days in Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina, it will pass quickly along the Southeast coast this Saturday and, on Sunday, it will arrive in Sergipe and Alagoas. Moderate rain showers are expected with high accumulations on the coast of São Paulo due to the constant humidity that comes from the sea, on Sunday, and also in Rio de Janeiro, both in the capital and in Costa Verde”, says Fabiene.

Heavy clouds grow in the east of the southern region and cause rain throughout the day in the mountains of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina, on the north coast of Rio Grande do Sul, in the south and east of Santa Catarina and in the east of Paraná, including the capitals Florianópolis and Curitiba.

The weather is rainy on the coast of Paraná and on the south coast of São Paulo. In Baixada Santista, on the north coast of São Paulo, along the entire coastal strip from the south of Rio de Janeiro to the Lagos region, the rain starts in the afternoon and intensifies at night.

In the East of the Northeast, rain showers occur along the entire coast from the South of Bahia to Rio Grande do Norte, in the interior of Sergipe and Alagoas, in the Zona da Mata and in the wilds of Pernambuco and Paraíba, in the Center, West and North of Maranhão and on the coast of Piauí and Ceará.

Rain showers also occur in the North Region in Roraima, Amapá, Amazonas and Pará, except in the south of these states.
