The communication chief of the Military Police of the Federal District (DF) confirmed to CNN this Thursday (14) that the agency is investigating an unknown artifact found at the Russian embassy in Brasília, with the support of the Military Fire Brigade of the DF (CBM-DF).
According to a press release issued by the PMDF, the officers were called by security guards at the Embassy, which is located on Avenida das Nações, around 10 am on Thursday. According to them, a suspicious package was received by the Post Office.
The box was isolated and the Military Police started Operation Petardo, triggered in cases of suspected explosive device, and the Bomb Squad of the Special Operations Battalion (BOPE) went to the building to examine the object.
The package was taken to a safe place where the detonation will take place, which according to the PMDF, is the standard procedure to neutralize the object.
THE CNN the CBM-DF stated that there is a team of firefighters at the Russian Embassy in Brasília, to help prevent accidents, and the place was isolated by BOPE.
