Police arrest 2 suspected members of the “Spider-Man gang” in Campinas

The Civil Police arrested this week in Campinas (SP) two men suspected of participating in the so-called “Spiderman Gang”. The name is an allusion to the group’s way of working, which used rappelling equipment to climb jewelry store buildings to steal jewelry safes.

According to Chief Elton Costa, the gang participated in a robbery that took place in the Cambuí neighborhood, in Campinas, last Thursday (29), and was caught on security cameras. The suspects were identified as Vinicius Ricardo Soares and Eduardo Guerreiro da Silva.

Eduardo was already on the Civil Police’s wanted list on suspicion of involvement in a robbery at a jewelry store located in downtown Curitiba (PR) last year.

The duo was taken to the 1st General Investigations Police Station (DIG) in Campinas and, according to the police, they have not presented a lawyer so far. A CNN tries to contact representatives of the accused, but so far has not received a response.

investigation and arrest

The arrest took place last Monday (3), after the investigation conducted by the Campinas police identified the place of purchase and the person who acquired the equipment used in the crime. Thus, the police concluded that it was a gang specializing in jewelry.

With the help of the Municipal Civil Guard, investigators were able to identify one of the cars used by the criminals and put the vehicle on the alert system. During the night, the vehicle was found, and when the agents approached the driver, it was found that it was precisely the previously identified individual.
