Police arrest 24 people for loan scam in RJ

The Civil Police arrested 24 people who carried out loan fraud in an operation in the center of Rio de Janeiro, this Thursday afternoon (19).

Agents from the 1st DP (Praça Mauá) carried out arrests in the act for criminal association after work by the intelligence sector and information received at Hotline Denúncia.

According to the investigation, the two companies carried out fraudulent payroll loans.

The companies operated from an office on Rua México, where a real “call center” to defraud customers from different states, mainly elderly people and INSS pensioners.

There, the 24 employees induced victims to take out loans, making them believe that had credit card debt or other financial issues.

Victims were sent to physical offices in other states to sign loan contracts, so that pay off debts that, in fact, did not exist.

After taking out the loans, fraudsters reversed most of the amount financed for your accounts and paid customers only a small amount, as a supposed “bonus”.

Victims only discovered fraud when they were notified of loan installments taken for its benefits.

The police carried out an investigation at the scene and seized computers and several documents. See videos of the operation below :
