Police arrest duo suspected of involvement in the death of two elderly people during a get-together in MT

The Civil Police of Mato Grosso arrested two people suspected of involvement in the murder of two elderly people during a party in the interior of the state last Monday night (22). The double homicide occurred on Sunday (21) in the municipality of Peixoto de Azevedo (MT), which is approximately 670 km from Cuiabá.

Among those arrested is Márcio Ferreira Gonçalves, who was already wanted for the crime. He is the husband of cattle rancher Inês Gemilaki, 48, and stepfather of doctor Bruno Gemilaki Dal Poz, 28, who remain at large. The other prisoner is Eder Gonçalves Rodrigues, who is Márcio's brother and, according to the police, confessed to participating in the murders.

The two men killed at the scene were identified as Pilson Pereira da Silva, 80 years old, and Rui Luiz Bolgo, 68. The injured man, according to the police, is the city's priest.

According to investigations, the group's real target was the owner of the residence where the gathering was taking place, who allegedly made public threats against those being investigated. The reason would be a process regarding a rental contract.

According to the Civil Police, when confessing to the crime, Eder said he entered the house with Inês and Bruno and shot the victims. Meanwhile, Márcio would have stayed in a truck outside the house, waiting to let the others escape.

“With the arrests, it was possible to identify a room involved in the crime, previously unknown, since we believed that the man in the black t-shirt who entered the house and fired the shots was Márcio, husband and stepfather of the other two perpetrators of the crime” , said delegate Anna Marien, responsible for investigations.

Márcio and Eder were taken to the Alta Floresta police station. Police chief Thiago Marques Berger will ask the court to convert the act into preventive detention.
