Police arrest fake delivery man suspected of robbery in São Paulo

A man suspected of committing the robbery – theft followed by death – of a 20-year-old boy in Jabaquara, a neighborhood in the south of the city of São Paulo, was arrested this Friday (29) by the civil police.

According to a statement from the corporation, he was identified and located after a long negotiation, turning himself in early this Friday afternoon. The suspect was taken to the 1st Police Station for Investigations into Robbery and Robbery, of the State Department of Criminal Investigations (DEIC).

The governor of the state of São Paulo, Rodrigo Garcia (PSDB), expressed his condolences to the young man’s family and friends. President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) also commented on the case on social media, saying that “it is our duty to prevent scenes like this from being normalized”.

Renan Silva Loureiro, 20, was killed in a cell phone theft in Jabaquara, a neighborhood in the south of the city of São Paulo. The person responsible for the death has a criminal record, according to the São Paulo Civil Police.

The investigation team was at two addresses in Vila do Encontro. In a property, they located a 38 caliber revolver, bag, a jacket and raincoat, material similar to that used by the suspect in the crime.

Also according to the corporation, a thermal box used in the delivery of food and various objects, such as cell phone memories, were also seized.
