Five people were arrested this Thursday morning (14), in Pernambuco, during Operation Rebote, launched by the Civil Police to investigate the murder of Lucas Vinícius Gomes de Almeida Santos, aged 28.
The Sport fan was beaten in September this year, in a violent confrontation between organized fans in the north of Recife, after a match valid for Series B of the Brazilian Championship.
On September 19, after the game between Sport and Goiás, at the Arena de Pernambuco, in the metropolitan region of Recife, the police found Lucas unconscious and seriously injured on the ground, close to the headquarters of Explosão Inferno Coral, an organized supporter of Santa Cruz, in the Arruda neighborhood, North Zone of the city. Sport fans would have gone to the location with the intention of confronting the teams from Santa Cruz and Goiás.
In images of the conflict, shared on social media, it is possible to see members of the fans using stones and broken glass as weapons. After the beating, Lucas was rescued and taken to Hospital da Restauração, in the central area of Recife, but he could not resist and died the following day due to the severity of his injuries. At the time, Military Police agents managed to locate some suspects in the crime.
In a statement, the Civil Police reported that an investigation was opened shortly after the incident. “The investigation began in September 2024, with the aim of combating criminal associations involved in riots and the corruption of minors in organized fan groups, which culminated in the homicide caused by beatings in the midst of a fan fight,” explained PCPE .
In addition to the arrests, this Thursday’s operation (14), coordinated by the Police Station for the Repression of Sports Intolerance (DPRIE), carried out six search and seizure warrants and one for the provisional hospitalization of a minor, mobilizing 55 police officers from the Operations and Resources Command Specials (CORE).
